The Gospel Proclaimed by the Apostles: The Kerygma (Greek for "Proclamation")

  • The gospel was prophesied in the Old Testament. Jesus would descend from the tribe of Judah (Ge. 49:10).
  • Jesus came to fulfill the Old Testament prophesies (Ac. 2:17-21, 30- 31, 34-35). He was born of a virgin (Is. 7:14). Identified as the Son of God (1Jn. 5:20; Da. 7). Born of the Holy Spirit (Mt. 1:20). He lived a perfect and sinless life (1Pe. 2:22). He was crucified on the cross (Mk. 15:25), buried in a tomb (Jn. 19:41), and He rose again three days later (Mt. 27:64), and now sits at the right hand of the Father (Mk. 16:19).
  • Jesus returns soon as He promised. He will judge the living and the dead (Mt. 13:40-43). The dead will be raised (Ac. 24:15). When He returns, He’ll fully establish the everlasting kingdom on earth (Lk 1:28-33).
  • Those who hear and believe in Jesus Christ will not perish but possess everlasting life (Jn. 3:16). Their sins will be forgiven (Ac. 10:43). They will receive salvation (Ro. 1:16).

The Apostles Doctrine: The Didache (Greek for "The Teaching")

  • Every believer sets aside their old way of living according to the world’s pattern and is transformed by renewing their mind. Believers understand that God has a will for their lives: to put on their new selves to be transformed into true righteousness and holiness (Ro. 12-15, Eph. 4-6, Col. 3-4).
  • The home is to be structured according to God’s design for the family (Eph. 5:22-6:9; 1Pe. 2:11-3:7).
  • Believers are to love one another with brotherly affection, be filled with the Holy Spirit, be full of joy, thanksgiving, and humility, walk in the Spirit and forgive one other (Gal. 5:16, 1Co. 13:1-3, 2Pe. 1:3-11).
  • Believers should function as a community, behave wisely, and use their time wisely. They must not be accused of doing something wrong and are prepared to answer anyone who asks them about their faith (Col 4:5-6, 1Pe 2:12-18).
  • Believers are to be subject to the governing authorities, whether the emperor or the officials sent by him (1Pe 2:13-14).

National Association of Evangelicals

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • We believe that that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:14; Matthew 28:29)
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Philippians 2:6-11; 1 Peter 3:18; Prmans 5:9; Matthew 26:64)
  • We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential; that in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life by the indwelling Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:4-7; John 14:15-18; John 16:13; John 16:7-11)
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (1 Corinthians 15:10-23; John 5:28-29)
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:41-47)

Advent Christian Declaration of Principles

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, being in its entirety a revelation given to man under divine inspiration and providence; that its historic statements are correct, and that it is the only divine and infallible standard of faith and practice.

  • We believe, as revealed in the Bible:

    1. In one God, our Father, eternal, and infinite in his wisdom, love and power, the Creator of all things, "in whom we live, and move, and have our being."

  • We believe that man was created for immortality, but that through sin he forfeited his divine birthright; that because of sin, death entered into the world, and passed upon all men; and that only through faith in Jesus Christ, the divinely ordained Life-giver, can men become "partakers of the divine nature," and live forever.
